Indigo Cat – H’mong Sewing Classes

Indigo Cat is simply the only Hmong Shop in all Sapa. We provide some Sewing Classes but you also will find a huge selection of local products such as genuine handicrafts, different teas or cardamom Address: 46 Phan Xi Pang Street, Sapa Town, Lao Cai, Vietnam Email: indigocatsapa@gmail.com Website: http://indigocat.dznly.com/ Reviews martin k Reviewed November 13, 2013 The merchandise in this store is of high quality, displayed nicely and everything has a price on it. It is owned by a Hmong woman and her Swiss husband. All items are made by hand and are from the area. Many of these handmade Hmong items are to be found no other place. So if you want to buy something different than the shops on the main street this is the place to visit. Of course they can answer any questions about their products as they are mostly made in house. Visited September 2013   From Tarla I am trying to get some information about how the H’mong women/families process indigo for a dye vat, I was there in December and had a fabulous trip, will be coming back again next year. Do you have any contacts in the Cat Cat village or close by that could explain in detail the process from when to pick the leaves, putting them in the barrels, what and how much is added to the barrels, how long the leaves stay in the barrel, taking them out, adding the lime and how much and then what to do. I did get a little information from our H’Mong guide, but her english was not good enough to explain the quantities. Would really appreciate some assistance. If this is a success, I will be bringing a group of artists with me to talk to the H’mong women and weavers. Thank you for your assistance Tarla Mountain...

Along the way, there are countless potted orchids, beautifully landscaped gardens and a few really tacky statues of cartoon characters like Scooby Doo and Mickey Mouse.
